CURE Development Stipends

The Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship Program will be offering stipends for faculty to develop Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences in a lower division course to be offered in the 2021-2022 academic year. Please check back for details in February, 2021.

Council on Undergraduate Research

Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) has several resources for faculty and students. MSU Denver has an “Enhanced Institutional Membership” which allows MSU Denver Students, Faculty and Staff to join FREE! For more information, click below.

Grant Information 

The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP) supports faculty and staff in obtaining external funding for research and programs. They focus on financial awards from federal, state, and local agencies.They can help you identify funding sources, develop proposals, and ensure proposals and projects are in compliance with university policies.


In 2018, we attended a Council on Undergraduate Research Dialogues Conference. Sessions highlighted grant opportunities listed below.

NSF S-STEM:

Goals of program: to increase the recruitment, retention, student success, and graduation of low income academically talented students in STEM

NSF RUI/ROA: 

The Research in Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) and Research Opportunity Awards (ROA) funding opportunities support research by faculty members at predominantly undergraduate institutions.

NEA – National Endowment for the Arts: (Matching funds required)

Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement: 

The goal is to prepare eligible participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.

ATRD and ISD Programs at the U.S. Department of Education:

  • Foreign Language and Areas Studies (FLAS) fellowships – funds allocated to departments that demonstrate the ability to teach advanced levels of less common languages abroad
  • Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) grant program – helps programs improve international relations via language studies and study abroad
